Day 2 | South Coast Highlights April 02, 2025

This morning you’ll have breakfast and check out of your hotel before meeting your Hidden Iceland private guide to explore all the magnificent places that the south coast of Iceland holds. Starting by Seljalandsfoss waterfall that falls over a cliff, allowing you to walk behind it for the ultimate views from behind the waterfall. From here it’s a short drive to the roaring Skógafoss waterfall, which holds an intriguing history of hidden treasures from the settlement. As our journey brings us further east, we start to see the country’s spectacular glaciers and highest mountain peaks within Vatnajökull National Park. If the conditions are favorable in the evening, you’ll be on a lookout for the Northern Lights!

Day 3 | Ice Cave Adventures within Vatnajökull National Park April 03, 2025

After breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to set out for the true highlight of the trip by heading to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, which to this day remains one of our favorite locations in Iceland. From here we embark on our Ice Cave adventures on the vast Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. First up, we travel through the rugged terrain in one of our partners’ specialized super jeeps to a more remote area of the glacier, and then we hike to explore one of the amazing blue ice caves in this region. The blues and textures of the caves are truly natural works of art!

Once we come back, we ensure that we have plenty of time to take in the wonders of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here we can see the icebergs that ha

ve calved off the glacier in the distance float around the enormous lagoon down to the tidal river, where the icebergs wash up to the black shores of Diamond Beach. Curious seals are often spotted swimming among the icebergs or resting on top of them. Tonight’s another opportunity to hunt for some Northern Lights!

Day 4 | South Coast Sights & Horseback Riding Tour April 04, 2025

After two adventurous days in the south-east, it’s time to slow the pace a little and have a more relaxed day as we head west after breakfast and checking out of our lovely hotel.  We’ll start with an easy hike along the feather-like ridges of the canyon with the impossible to pronounce name; Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon. We stop by a few more south

coast sights as daylight hours allow, and we’ll also join a black beach horseback riding tour. This scenic ride in the beautiful environment of Vík includes crossing a little stream, a ride along the black sand beach and a good time with the wonderful Icelandic Horses. This will be suitable for all equine experience levels.

Soon enough, we will come to our accommodation for the night on the beautiful south coast. The hotel restaurant will be available for dinner once you h

ave settled into your room and refreshed after a day of exploring the magnificent glacier landscapes. Hotels on the south coast are perfectly located for seeing the Northern Lights when conditions are favorable.

Þórsmörk is a natural reserve in a remote area of the southern Icelandic Highlands, nestled between the Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull glaciers, and one of the favorite locations for Icelanders to explore during the summer months. It is a truly wonderful location, one of our favorites on the whole island. Enjoy the hikes in the area and drink in the beautiful, unspoiled nature of Iceland. Tonight we return to our cozy accommodation in the south, with another opportunity of seeing the Northern Lights.

Afterwards, we will refuel with a unique lunch inside the tomato greenhouse farm Friðheimar. Having lunch among all the tomato plants in the greenhouse is something we are sure you will never forget.

Finally, we will drive to the famous Þingvellir National Park. This National Park holds historical and geological significance and Þingvellir is the site of the first known parliament in the world, where many of Iceland’s most important decisions were made. You’ll spend your last night in Reykjavík.
